1. STEFAN BUCHER-
Exploring the 344 design website was more than enjoyable. All the different aspects of visual art were brought together in his designs. The website’s swirls of ideas seemed to show the whole process of just how that piece had been created. What really intrigued me was the multimedia and how it seemed to fit together like a puzzle of designs leading the viewer to have a deeper understanding. Stefan’s final works, guerilla marketing, and doodles all seemed fun to explore and the enthusiasm of the artist just shows through. When designing, I enjoy exploding information on to the page and varying styles to create an original imaginative work.
2. JAMES VICTORE-
I admire the comedy and hidden messages in Victore’s designs. Simple yet clever type placement such as words flossing through teeth just make a campaign much more realistic and gives a visual understanding to the viewer. The jokes, such as “advertisers think you’re stupid” and the posters with doodle like graffiti writing give the piece a voice and personality. I think when a viewer finds humor or a feeling in a work they’re more likely to remember it. The best advertising can be word of mouth. When I looked at James Victore’s works, I just felt the need to share the visual experience with a friend.
3. THINKSO-
I found the use of different typefaces interesting in this company’s works. Instead of imagery or using the artist’s hand, information seems organized with point size, typeface, leading, tracking, line length and kerning. Also when viewing the different aspects associated with advertising, such as posters, magazine ads, billboards, etc., all carried the same voice while being visually altered. By using the same typeface, with different placement the same story was told with a different spin. Sometimes simple and elegant works, especially at “thinkso”.
